A 7-year-old intact male pitbull presented to theVeterinary Medical Teaching Hospital,University of Florida,with a history of progressive dysequilibrium of 2 months dura- tion. The owners had noticed the recent onset of a left-sided limb weakness and an intermittent head tremor. The refer- ring veterinarian treated the dog for a suspected otitis me- dia-intema with cephalexin (30 mg/kg body weight q12 hrs orally). The dog had been owned since it was 8 weeks old, had been regularly and routinely vaccinated. and was healthy until the onset of the presenting signs.
