Hyperthyroid cats may become (transiently) hypothyroid following 131I radiotherapy or surgical thyroidectomy. Oral supplementation with L-thyroxine (L-T4) may be considered in such cases. The empiric daily dose is usually 0.1 mg/cat and no published pharmacokinetic data on L-T4 in cats are available. The present study evaluated the pharmacokinetics of oral L-T4 in healthy cats.
