Elizabeth: 1 year after treatment for thyroid carcinoma causing hyperthyroidism

Elizabeth's was referred to us for I-131 therapy for the treatment of thyroid carcinoma causing hyperthyroidism. Her hyperthyroidism caused her to loose weight and drink excessively. Elizabeth, along with her owner's, came all the way from Northern California.

Elizabeth's thyroid scan, performed at Washington State University showed bilateral cervical thyroid carcinoma and extensive thoracic metastases. Her lateral and V/D thoracic radiographs also confirmed extensive thoracic metastasis.  Surgery would not help Elizabeth. External beam radiation therapy would not help Elizabeth. Chemotherapy would not help Elizabeth. High dose radioiodine therapy was the only option with a reasonable prognosis.
