Feline hyperthyroidism Is a recently recognized syndrome of thyrotoxicosis resulting from the hypersecretion of the thyroid hormones, thyroxine (T4), and triiodothyronine (T3I). The syndrome is usually seen in older cats and Is thought to be associated with thyroid adenomas (multinodular adenomatous hyperplasia), and thyroid carcinomas, although the latter is rare.
